And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”Ezekiel 48:35b
Have you ever had one of those moments when you felt like God was a million miles away? I don’t think that there are many people that don’t feel that way at some point in time or another. In fact, after I was assaulted, for a long time I felt like God was no where near me. I felt like He had left me. I am pretty sure that most people in that situation feel the exact same way. But that just isn’t the truth. When He feels far away, it isn’t Him that moved. It is because I am not trusting Him. I don’t know about you, but I struggled to trust anyone for a long time. Even now, I have to intentionally remember that I can trust God and not every man is like the guy that hurt me.
The LORD is There. He is present. He is accessible to all of those who love and obey Him.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.Psalm 139:7-12
God spoke to the Israelites and told them that He wouldn’t leave them or forsake them (Deuteronomy 31:6). But it wasn’t just the Israelites that God made that promise to. The writer of Hebrews shared that same promise:
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”Hebrews 13:5-6
Sister, He is with YOU! Read this passage from Psalm 46:
God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.Psalm 46:5-7
Isn’t that a cool verse? Sister, you will not fall when God is within you. When you place your trust in Him, He is with you! The next verse shares that not only is He there, but He is also a Mighty Warrior.
The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”Zephaniah 3:17
MMM … I like the sound of that! I don’t want a wimp as the person who is there for me! I want a Mighty Warrior on my side, defending me. I feel much safer knowing that a Mighty Warrior is THERE!
One of Jesus’ names is Immanuel which means “God with us.” So that name is actually related to this one! In a world that leaves so many people struggling to trust, it is a blessing to know that a Mighty Warrior is there for me.
